Fact Sheet

Who and What is One Church?

One Church is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry. One Church seeks to reach everyone living and working in a community with the message and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. One Church invites people of all backgrounds, races and stages of life from area Christian churches and ministries to build relationships with one another and then, in partnership with one another, to together build relationships with their community for this purpose.

One Church was formed in March of 2008 by two couples, Kathy and Jim O'Connell and Sheila and Jim Moynihan, who share a passion of uniting Jesus' church on mission to every community.

How Does it Work?

Every Christian church and ministry is encouraged to post their ministries on www.weareONECHRUCH.com at no cost. Our goal is to become the main resource for those living and working in the community or those coming into the community temporarily or permanently to search for relevant ministries. Each ministry will be trained and equipped for managing their content according to appropriate guidelines.

If you are interested in participating in this effort or learning more about One Church please contact us with your questions or interest.

How are Donations Distributed?

All donations received in our first year of operations (approximately $6,500) were used to fund the start up of One Church. These costs included application fees for our Virginia State Incorporation (received on March 27, 2008); our application for our Federal Tax Exempt Status (received on April 14, 2009); and the development and hosting of the web site using professional services. Total funds expended were approximately $5,000. The remaining funds are being applied to this new year's expenses which include minimal technical improvements. The 2009 receipts from donations are expected to be about $30,000. These funds have been and will continue to be used primarily for web site development, marketing and ministry professional services.

Although there is no cost to the churches and ministries participating in One Church, tax deductible contribution are encouraged using the PayPal donation feature found on the web site or by sending a check via mail to: One Church, P.O. Box 1390, Yorktown, VA 23692.

How Can My Church or Ministry Become Involved?

The first thing to do is to have your ministry leader (pastor/executive director) contact Jim Moynihan, founder and president of One Church through our contact us feature. Jim will make an appointment to meet with your ministry leader to explain the features and benefits of One Church and to schedule follow up meetings with other key leaders and interested people wanting to be trained in the use of One Church for your ministry.

How Can I Become A Volunteer?

As you may imagine, many volunteers will be needed to post the information about the ministries of each community. Clink on Help Develop One Church for some of the areas needing volunteer help to get an idea of what we need. If you have an interest in being on the ground floor of an internet site that is sure to grow rapidly and enjoy developing a resource like this, we would love to discuss the possibilities with you. The best way to respond would be to contact us with your interests and availability and contact information.
